Nine arrowheads (eight iron, one bronze [shown at upper right]) were found near the gate. The excavators agree with historian Nadav Na’aman that Jezreel was most likely destroyed by the Aramean king Hazael during his conquest in the second half of the ninth century B.C.E.—less than a hundred years after it was built.
