GRACE UNDER PRESSURE. Having recognized the incredible value of the manuscripts, Trever convinced the monks to let him photograph and study the scrolls. Working in difficult conditions with very limited film and spotty electricity, Trever assembled a makeshift studio in the ASOR basement and quickly shot the scrolls (mostly on black and white film) against his red corduroy backdrop. In the photo above right, he is checking the lighting on the Habakkuk pesher.
