HINTS OF HOLINESS. Other small finds indicate the presence of a temple on Mt. Gerizim. A 1.7-inch-long copper serpent might have functioned in some role at the Persian-period temple, perhaps reminiscent of Moses’ copper serpent on a pole (later destroyed by King Hezekiah) in the Israelite Temple in Jerusalem.
