FROM BULLDOZER TO DENTAL TOOLS. Within 15 minutes of starting work, excavators of the favissa (repository pit) collected four boxes of broken chalices and other pottery at a salvage dig on Yavneh’s Temple Hill. Note the still unexcavated objects behind the two blue-shirted excavators. Temple Hill has never been extensively excavated. Do the remains of a Philistine Temple still lie buried here? Should a long-term excavation now begin?
