Cherubs and curlicues decorate the courtyard of another contemporary of Solomon’s Temple, this one recently discovered at ‘Ain Dara in northern Syria. Not only do the carvings of cherubs resemble those in the Biblical descriptions of the Israelite Temple, but archaeologists also found a stone basin in the courtyard at ‘Ain Dara, recalling the bronze yam mentioned in the Bible.
