ON THE ROAD AGAIN. The Via di Frontino was the main thoroughfare of Hieropolis in Roman times and provided a grand processional way for Byzantine pilgrims, who proceeded south from the city’s north gate before they turned east to exit through Domitian’s Gate toward the martyrium northeast of the walls.
