Although no scrolls or scroll fragments have been found at the site of Khirbet Qumran, there is still considerable evidence to suggest that at least some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and used on site. De Vaux himself found several inkwells at Qumran, indicating the presence of trained scribes who had the tools and space necessary to produce the scrolls found in the surrounding caves.
