THE TAINTED LAMP. This unusual 9-inch-wide stone oil lamp with decorations of a menorah and the seven species became yet another object to receive Goren’s stamp of forgery. It was then included in the list of forged artifacts in the IAA indictment against Oded Golan in the forgery trial (still awaiting a verdict). Yet a recent study and publication by several scientific experts suggest that the lamp is authentic. If so, might it have been part of the Temple ritual?
