A Jewish Aramaic inscription painted in red ochre identifies this as the tombstone of Hannah, daughter of Levi. The seven-line funerary text, which gives the date of Hannah’s death and concludes with the blessing “Peace upon Israel. Peace,” is surrounded by a decorated, zigzag border, while the bottom of the stone includes three distinctly Jewish symbols: a large menorah flanked on the left by a shofar (ram’s horn) and on the right by a schematized lulav, or palm branch.
