The drawing of the Tel Zayit Abecedary by epigrapher Kyle McCarter, published in the editio princeps and reproduced here, is in the process of revision, based on some details discerned in McCarter’s most recent examination of the stone. McCarter concludes it is written in a script somewhere between Phoenican and Hebrew. Author Christopher Rollston maintains that it is pure Phoenician.
