IT’S ALL CONNECTED. In Eilat Mazar’s second season of excavation, she demonstrated that the broad eastern wall of her Large Stone Structure (W20) was in fact connected to the Stepped Stone Structure in Shiloh’s Area G. Since the Stepped Stone Structure had been dated to the Iron Age I, this further solidified the date of the Large Stone Structure’s original construction to the same period. The photo shows the Stepped Stone Structure and later Israelite dwellings before Mazar’s excavation atop the ridge.
