In one corner two women’s faces flank a black circular medallion inscribed with white Hebrew or Aramaic text. The woman on the right has wavy red hair and wears a white earring in her left ear; the woman on the left is only partially preserved, but a tiara with green glass tesserae adorns her hairdo. There are floral motifs behind both faces. The fragmentary inscription refers to blessings for those who do good deeds, so these women may have been donors to the synagogue.
