CAPITAL GAINS. Now sitting on a more recent classical column near the Garden Tomb on the grounds of the École Biblique, this 21.6-inch-high lotus-shaped capital resembles Egyptian architecture. Several of these “Egyptianized” capitals were discovered in 1882 on the grounds and would have stood atop columns.
