TURKISH DELIGHTS. Minoan artistic influence was also discovered at Alalakh (Tell Atchana) in Turkey during Sir Leonard Woolley’s excavations in the 1930s and 1940s. Fragmentary wall paintings from the 17th–16th centuries B.C. depict a griffin among other features known from Minoan Crete. The griffin can be reconstructed from tiny bits that have survived.
