The khol pot—made of alabaster—was uncovered in a shop at the foot of a female skeleton who lost her life in the Babylonian destruction. The pot contained kohl, eye makeup. This was typical of Egyptian toiletry sets of the late seventh century B.C.E. and testify to Ashkelon’s close relationship with Egypt.
