The glowing tree on this Neo-Assyrian white agate seal is carved on a striking red patch of hematite. In this case, the artist has carefully placed the central focus of the scene, the sacred tree and the winged sun disc, directly in the center of this red—with a worshiper standing to the right, in the white agate. None of this careful planning is visible on a clay impression.
