People with health problems would come to the Asclepion to be healed. Those who were cured would typically give a thanksgiving offering representative of their illness or the body part that was healed. Excavations uncovered a votive foot left by a Roman woman, Pompeia Lucilia, to commemorate the healing of her foot.
