STILL STANDING. Two column bases were discovered in situ at Machaerus during the excavations conducted by the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem. The Ionic column base was found in 1979 standing on the stylobate (the raised base on which columns are placed) of the bathhouse.
