Biblical places are targeted by extremists and other militants. The traditional tomb of Joseph, whose brothers promised to bury his bones in the land of his forefathers (Genesis 50:24–25), is shown as it appeared in Shechem in the 1900s. In 2000, it was looted and torched by Palestinian dissidents.
