Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, was fascinated by archaeology and kept a collection of Egyptian, Near Eastern, Greek, Roman and Chinese artifacts on his desk and shelves. Freud argued in his book Moses and Monotheism that Moses was an Egyptian priest of Aten—thus explaining a connection between the monotheism of Akhenaten and that of the Israelite religion.
