Devotedly religious, Tischendorf’s parents instilled a strong Lutheran faith in the boy that propelled him to a career driven by a quest for more authentic (original) Biblical manuscripts. This entry in the baptismal register of the Lutheran Church of Legenfeld (white arrow) records his baptism.
