In the shadow of Mt. Sinai, St. Catherine’s Monastery served as a sanctuary and place of worship for 17 centuries. It was built at the legendary site where Moses encountered the burning bush. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the monastery has been visited by Empress Helena, Emperor Justinian, Muhammed, Sultan Selim I, Empress Catherine of Russia and Napoleon Bonaparte.
