A salvaged Sinaiticus page from St. Catherine’s Monastery recovered in 1975. The initial sheets of Codex Sinaiticus were saved by Tischendorf from fueling fires. The sheet here was saved by an earthquake that revealed their hiding place in the floor of an old storage room. The 12 pages and 24 fragments of Codex Sinaiticus found in 1975 are the only ones that remain in the care of the Sinai monks.
