ORIGINAL INTENT. This letter from Archbishop Kallistratus to the emperor of Russia states that it was always the intent of the Sinai monks to donate the Codex Sinaiticus to the Russians. This is one of several documents contained in the Russian archives from the religious community in Sinai to the Russian government allegedly confirming the donation of Codex Sinaiticus.
