IDENTIFYING IDENTITY. Several archaeological discoveries attest to the Jewish identity of Khirbet Cana from the Hellenistic and Roman periods. A second-century C.E. ostracon discovered at the site has been identified as an abecedary. Its incised letters read, from right to left, beth, gimal, daleth.
