CITY FOR THE DEAD. High above Limyra is a city carved in stone and reserved for an elite population: the dead. Divided among five necropoleis, there are about 400 tombs surrounding Limyra. The most famous necropolis (which literally means “city of the dead” in Greek) is Necropolis I with nine impressive Lycian tombs.
