Gods and goddesses were worshiped throughout Hattuša, as evidenced by more than 30 temples located within city limits, but one temple—known as the Great Temple—dominated the Lower City. This temple was dedicated to the divine couple at the top of the Hittite pantheon—the Storm God and the Sun Goddess (shown here).
