Raging Ramesses storms into the fray at the Battle of Kadesh fought between the Hittites and the Egyptians during the height of their conflict over northern Syria. According to the Egyptian version, they won. The Hittites also made a victory claim, but the truth is that the battle was probably a draw. Ramesses’s version of the conflict was depicted on several temple walls throughout Egypt, such as the Temple of Sobek and Abu Simbel (shown here).
