SPHINX OF TAHARQA. A pharaoh of Egypt’s 25th Dynasty and the king of Kush, Taharqa ruled large parts of Egypt when Esarhaddon invaded that country. The face of this sphinx might represent Taharqa, whose name is inscribed between its forepaws. The sphinx was uncovered from a temple at Kawa in modern Sudan.
