SILVERSMITH INSCRIPTION. Discovered at Ephesus in 1984, this 16-line Greek inscription stands 3.5 feet tall. It mentions the silversmiths of Ephesus and Valerius Festus, who improved either the harbor or the Artemisium at Ephesus. This inscription indicates that during the second century, the silversmith guild, with which Paul had come in conflict a century earlier, still flourished in Ephesus.
