Inscribed bullae like this recovered from the excavation at the base of the Northern Tower reflect a complex bureaucracy in the capital of Judah. This belonged to ḥym‘ẓ, a name known from the Bible (1 Samuel 14:50; 2 Samuel 15:27–36; 1 Kings 4:15).
