Also discovered at the Amman Citadel is a ninth-century B.C.E. inscription. Written in Ammonite, the Amman Citadel Inscription is probably a building inscription, but since it is incomplete, its original purpose cannot be determined definitively. The Ammonite god Milcom is mentioned at the beginning of the inscription.
