EDOMITE GODDESS. A large assemblage of Edomite figurines, statuettes, stands and other cultic vessels was uncovered at the site of Ḥorvat Qitmit in southern Judah. Notable among this collection is a sphinx. The 8-inch-long sphinx figurine has the face of a human, wings of an eagle and the body of a bull or lion.
