NORTHERN THEATER. Laodicea has two theaters: a western one dated to the Hellenistic period and a larger, northern one from the second century C.E. The northern theater (shown here) has a view of Hierapolis across the Lycus Valley. With a diameter of more than 400 feet, this structure could hold 20,000 attendees.
