The mid-fourth-century fresco from the Catacomb of Via Latina portrays the Samaritan woman at the well with Jesus. This fresco was discovered in southeast Rome during the construction of a new apartment building in 1955. When the concrete for the building’s foundation seeped into the ground, workers investigated and found the ancient catacomb.
