HOUSE OF DAVID. In recounting the victories of Mesha, a king of Moab in the ninth century B.C.E. (see 2 Kings 3:4), this restored basalt Stela of Mesha mentions the “House of David” (traced in the detail with damaged areas dotted). Together with the Tel Dan Stela, it is a unique extra-Biblical attestation of King David.
