REAL BIBLICAL PEOPLE. In this follow-up to his March/ April 2014 BAR article, author Lawrence Mykytiuk demonstrates that three additional people from the Hebrew Bible have been confirmed archaeologically, bringing the count up to 53 “real people.” Darius I the Great, king of Persia, is seen in the below stone relief from the Treasury of the Palace at Persepolis seated on his throne as a high dignitary greets him. The Biblical Tattenai, who in Ezra 5:3 is referenced as a Persian governor, can now be identified in a tablet of Darius I recovered from Babylon.
