STONE HOLDING ASTRAGALUS. A freestanding stone with its top surface etched in order to insert the astragalus of an ox was uncovered from Sidon’s subterranean temple. It dates to the 13th century B.C.E. and was found lying on its side in the same room (the channel room) where the horns of consecration were discovered.
