HASMONEAN MIKVEH. In 1981, the Franciscan Mission found a Hasmonean mikveh underneath the later courtyard of the Herodian royal palace. Today this mikveh appears at the base of the Herodian Doric column in the royal courtyard, which was re-erected by the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2014.
