THE HIGH-LEVEL AQUEDUCT supplied Caesarea Maritima with water from springs on the southern slopes of Mt. Carmel, about 6 miles northeast of the city. It is likely one of the few constructions in Caesarea preserved from the reign of Herod the Great.
