PALACE OF ISRAEL’S KINGS. King Omri of Israel built a palace at Samaria, his new capital, in the ninth century B.C.E. Archaeologists have uncovered remains of this Iron Age palace, which appears to have been of the bit hilani type (a palace with a monumental entrance, a throne room in the middle of the structure with the throne to the right, smaller rooms along the perime-ter, and one or more windows in the façade).
