TITUS’S TRIUMPH over Jerusalem and the sacking of the Temple in 70 C.E. was memorialized on the Arch of Titus on the Via Sacra to the southeast of the Roman Forum. A renowned military leader, Titus (39–81 C.E., reigned 79–81 C.E.) was instrumental in quashing the First Jewish Revolt for his father, Emperor Vespasian.
