COURTESY OF THE LAUTENSCHLÄGER AZEKAH EXPEDITION

THE RICH ASSEMBLAGE of Egyptian amulets at Tel Azekah testifies to close relations with the Egypt-connected sites on Judah’s coastal plain to the west and south of the site during the Late Bronze Age. These two examples were found with one of the victims in the courtyard next to the grinding installation. They represent the popular Egyptian gods Amun (left) and Bes (right).
