COURTESY OF THE LAUTENSCHLÄGER AZEKAH EXPEDITION

MORE THAN 200 complete ceramic vessels were extracted from the debris of the Late Bronze Age architectural compound at Tel Azekah. Their sheer number and the presence of different oils and fats in them suggest that they were involved in the manufacturing process of a specific product, the identity of which remains to be revealed. Many of the heavy containers seem to have been stored on the rooftop, whence they fell when the structure collapsed, burying the four victims.
