TEL REHOV EXPEDITION, THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM
IRON AGE OVEN. Excavations at Tel Rehov uncovered a complete clay oven, dated to the tenth century B.C.E. Shaped like a conical cylinder, the oven measures 1.8 feet high from base to top with 1.5-inch-thick walls. Its base is 1.8 feet in diameter, and the opening at the top is 1 foot in diameter. To help with insulation, the oven’s exterior had been covered with potsherds.
