COMPLEX CHURCH. After uncovering paved courtyards and rooms around the Church of the Apostles at el-Araj, archaeologists suggested they had found a monastery. Dating to the Byzantine period, the monastery’s walls were preserved to a height of 5 feet. Here Achya Cohen-Tabor and Steve Notley examine one of its walls.
