BIBLICAL BETHSAIDA? About a mile north of the Sea of Galilee, the site of et-Tell rises above the surrounding plain, in the Lower Golan. After digging there for 30 years, archaeologists have uncovered remains from the Iron Age through the Roman period (c. 950 B.C.E.–400 C.E.). They believe they have found biblical Bethsaida, which was transformed into the city Julias in the first century C.E.
