HOUSE OF DAVID. This famous ninth-century B.C.E. basalt stele references the “House of David.” Coming from Tel Dan in the north of Israel, the Iron Age II Aramaic inscription details the conquests of King Hazael of Aram, including his defeat of the Judahite king Ahaziah—of the house of David—as well as Joram, king of Israel.
