ASSYRIAN CITADEL? Archaeologists have uncovered a large building complex dated to the late Iron Age (seventh-sixth centuries B.C.E.) at Tel Rekhesh. Covering almost half the acropolis, it measures about 115 by 180 feet (depicted here). The entrance of the structure’s inner wall is flanked by boulders and leads into a paved space (6.6 by 10.8 ft), which might be a courtyard.
