PLASTERED POOL? At Tel Rekhesh, archaeologists found a three-stepped plastered installation north of the perimeter walls of the late Iron Age citadel (shown here). Despite being damaged by construction that took place during the Roman period, the installation is fairly well preserved—standing about 2 feet high and 7 feet wide. However, its purpose and date remain uncertain. It might be a mikveh from the early Roman period or a ceremonial bathtub from the late Iron Age.
